Help Make the Catskills a Priority in This Year’s State Budget

By March 31, state leaders in Albany will decide whether the Catskills get the support they need in this year’s New York State budget. We need your voice to ensure the Catskills remain healthy, welcoming, and resilient for everyone who calls this region home or comes here to explore.

Now is the perfect time to contact your Senators and Assemblymembers, calling on them to stay strong in budget negations and thanking them for their leadership.

Please contact your legislators today and urge them to support:

  • $12 million for Adirondack and Catskill Wilderness Protection and Visitor Safety to fund trails, stewards, and safer access that protect fragile habitats while welcoming visitors.

  • $250,000 for the Congressman Maurice D. Hinchey Catskills Visitor Center, the primary gateway for education, safe outdoor recreation, and connections to local communities.

  • $200,000 for the Catskill Science Collaborative at the Cary Institute for Ecosystem Studies, ensuring sound science guides decisions in the Catskill Park now and in the future.

These investments are how New York keeps its promise to the Catskills, supporting clean water, thriving communities, and a landscape that can handle growing visitation and a changing climate.

It only takes a minute, but time is short. Please make a phone call, send an email, or write a letter  by March 31 to support these Catskill and Adirondack priorities in the state budget.

Hi, my name is ________, and I live in ________. I’m calling to urge (State Senator/Assemblymember __________) to support strong funding for the Catskills and Adirondacks in this year’s state budget. These parks provide clean water, outdoor recreation, and jobs for communities across New York, and they need sustained investment to stay healthy and safe.

Thank you for your time. Again, my name is ________, and my phone number is ________. I hope (Assemblymember/State Senator ________) will be a champion for the Catskills and Adirondacks in the final budget.

Thank you for taking action to support the future of the Catskills.
