DONATE TO THE CATSKILL CENTER

THE IMPACT OF YOUR GIFT

Donor support is essential to the Catskill Center’s ability to protect, steward, and advocate for the Catskills. Your generosity fuels work that happens year-round and across the region, turning shared values into tangible, lasting impact. Your contribution today helps make possible:

  • Strong advocacy for public lands and water, ensuring that local and state policies reflect the long-term health of the Catskills.

  • On-the-ground stewardship, including visitor support and education, fire tower interpretation, and the management of conserved lands that support safe, responsible access.

  • Invasive species prevention and control, paired with habitat restoration that protects forests, streams, and wildlife before damage becomes irreversible.

  • Education and engagement programs that connect residents and visitors to the Catskills through learning, volunteerism, and shared responsibility.

  • Long-term conservation capacity, allowing the Catskill Center to respond to emerging challenges and care for the land in every season.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

As a small expression of our thanks, donors who give $250 or more will receive our 2026 Catskills Calendar, featuring striking images of Catskills landscapes photographed by Diana Richards. Each month offers a reminder of the places your support helps care for and protect throughout the year. Donors who give $100 or more will receive a keepsake magnet featuring a vibrant red eft. This iconic Catskills species is a symbol of healthy forests and thriving ecosystems, and a reminder of the impact your generosity makes.

OTHER WAYS TO GIVE

GIVE THROUGH A DONOR ADVISED FUND

A donor advised fund (DAF) is a simple and tax-efficient way to support the Catskill Center and help protect the Catskills for generations. If you have a DAF through a financial institution or community foundation, you can recommend a gift to the Catskill Center at any time, either as a one-time contribution or a recurring grant. Many donors use their DAF as a flexible charitable giving tool, allowing them to support the causes they care about on their own timeline.

How to donate through a donor advised fund:

Choose the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development as the grantee through your provider’s portal, or use DAFpay on any of our donation pages to recommend a gift directly.

MAKE A GIFT OF STOCKS AND SECURITIES

Did you know that you may be able to decrease your tax burden by donating stock or other securities to the Catskill Center? This is because when donating appreciated stock, you not only get a tax deduction for the amount of the current value of your shares, but you also avoid paying taxes on the capital gains on the appreciation of those shares in the future. Additionally, you pay no brokerage fees or sales commissions and it may even help prevent paying any alternative minimum tax.

If your stocks that have decreased in value from your original purchase price, however, you should consider selling them and making a monetary contribution to Catskill Center so that you can take a capital loss deduction on your tax return and still receive the tax deduction for the full amount of your donation.

How to donate stocks and securities:

If your shares are held in “street name” at a brokerage, just call the Catskill Center's Office Manager, Michelle Schoenborn, at 845-586-2611; after obtaining some basic information from you (including approximate number of shares and the date the stock was acquired), we’ll send you a short form to complete and return. It’s that simple.

If you are in possession of stock certificates, mail the unendorsed certificates to:

Catskill Center
Attn: Michelle Schoenborn
PO Box 504
Arkville, NY 12406

In a separate envelope, send a signed stock power (available from your financial institution), to the same address. Both envelopes should be postmarked on the same date as that will determine the date of the gift.

GIVE BY MAIL

If you prefer to support the Catskill Center by mail, donations by check are always welcome. Please make checks payable to Catskill Center for Conservation and Development and mail them to P.O.
