Boot Brush Installation Volunteer Day at Platte Clove Preserve

Join the Catskill Center for a hands-on volunteer day to help prevent the spread of invasive species at Platte Clove Preserve!

Date: Friday, November 6th, 2026

Time: 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM

Location: Platte Clove Preserve

Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous

We'll begin with a discussion about common invasive species and how boot brush stations help protect our trails by removing dirt, seeds, and plant material from hikers' footwear. Volunteers will then help install one or two boot brush stations by digging holes, securing the pre-built stations, constructing frames, and filling the surrounding areas with gravel.

Your efforts will help protect Platte Clove Preserve and encourage visitors to take simple steps to prevent the spread of invasive species!

Please bring water, wear sturdy footwear, and dress in warm layers. A raincoat is also recommended.

This volunteer opportunity involves physically demanding work, including digging in rocky soil, handling gravel and heavy materials, and using tools. Please keep these requirements in mind when registering.

The Volunteer Coordinator will send an email the day before the event with updated weather conditions and any additional details.

Registration is required. Please complete all volunteer forms prior to arrival. A limited number of copies will be available on site. All ages are welcome. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and those under 18 must have permission.

For questions, please contact Sammi Delaney at [email protected].

Please Note: Pets are not permitted at Catskill Center programs and events with the exception of trained service animals assisting their handlers.
