Join SUNY Oneonta’s Dr. Elizabeth Bastiaans for an engaging educational program focused on how you can assist amphibians during their annual spring migration. Each year, as temperatures warm and rains fall, frogs, toads, and salamanders move from their wintering sites to breeding pools, often crossing hazardous roads along the way. You can help make their journey safer!
Date: Saturday, February 21, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Catskills Visitor Center (5096 NY-28, Mt Tremper, NY 12457)
This one-hour, indoor workshop will cover amphibian migration patterns, how to identify common regional species, recognizing prime migration corridors in your own community, safe handling considerations, and best practices for assisting amphibians on roads at night.
The session is designed to equip participants with practical knowledge they can apply locally to help safeguard amphibians during this critical time of year. No outdoor field component is included.
