Governor Spitzer’s Special Assistant for the Environment to Speak at Catskill Center

Arkville - This year’s guest speaker at The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development’s 38th Annual Membership Meeting will be Paul Beyer, Special Assisant for the Environment in Governor Spitzer’s Office.

Mr. Beyer began working on land use issues twenty years ago as Legislative Staff Director for then-Assembly member Alexander "Pete" Grannis. He served for five years on the Amherst, NY Planning Board, where he promoted smart growth and sustainable land use. He received his law degree from the University at Buffalo, and served successive positions as an assistant Erie County attorney and a state supreme court law clerk in Buffalo, before moving back to Albany.

The Annual Meeting is on Saturday, July 14 from 11 am to 2 pm and the public is invited and encouraged to attend. In addition to the address by Mr. Beyer, there will be a silent auction, catered picnic lunch, live music by local singer/songwriters James Krueger and Henry Hermann, and the presentation of the 2007 Alf Evers Award for Excellence to Raymond Beecher, Greene County author and historian.
