Ice Fishing at Big Pond

Always a popular winter event, Chris Olney, Dirctor of Conservation at The Catskill Center, will be hosting a day of ice-fishing at one of the region’s prettiest spots - Big Pond. No experience necessary, and Chris can even teach beginners how to ice-fish. The Center will have a limited amount of equipment available, but bring your own if you can. A current NYS fishing license is required for people 16 years of age and older. Dress warm and bring your own food and hot chocolate. Meet out on the ice at Big Pond, which is located on Barkaboom Road (south of Pepacton Reservoir, just north of Beaverkill Road); Saturday January 27th anytime between 8 AM and 1 PM. Important: Please call (845) 586-2611 on Friday to check ice conditions. If the ice is not thick enough to safely support our weight, the event must be cancelled.
