Celebrate Alf Evers’ Birthday (he would have been 101 years old on February 2) at the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development (Rte 28, Arkville) with the launch of a newly revised edition of his pioneering book on ecology for children -- Treasure of Watchdog Mountain: The Story of a Mountain in the Catskills. In this new, illustrated, hard covered edition, Alf Evers tells in poetic language of a fictionalized mountain which he fashioned after Overlook. It is about the needs of man and his desire to profit from the treasures the mountain held -- its trees, rocks and water. It combines geology, Native American lore, chapters on glassmaking, tanning and quarrying. It is a story of nature's resiliency and of hope for the future of all these mountains. On hand will be Kit Evers-son of Alf Evers, Christie Scheele- illustrator (whose prints will be on sale), Jo and Arthur Schwartz - publishers and Naomi Schmidt- Graphic Designer. Saturday, February 18th- 1 PM
