Always a popular winter event, Chris Olney and Aaron Bennett of The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development will be hosting a day of ice-fishing at one of the region’s prettiest spots - Big Pond. No experience is necessary, and Aaron and Chris can even teach you or your kids how to ice-fish if you’ve never done it before. We will have a limited amount of equipment available, but bring your own if you can. A current NYS fishing license is required for people 16 years of age and older. Dress warm and bring your own food, water and favorite warm beverage. Meet out on the ice at Big Pond, which is located on Barkaboom Road (south of Pepacton Reservoir, just north of Beaverkill Road); anytime Saturday, February 11th between 8 AM and 1 PM. Important: Please call (845) 586-2611 on Friday to check ice conditions. If the ice is not thick enough to safely support our weight, the event must be cancelled.
