| Fire Towers of the Catskills $20.00

At one time their were 23 fire towers in and around the Catskill Mountains. The author has researched the history of each and gathered the stories of the rangers who supervised them, the observers who kept watch on the forest and the pilots who, over time, replaced them. From the early 1900s through the current Catskill Fire Tower Restoration Project, the author covers these interesting structures with great detail. |

Each trail description is accompanied by a map, and each hike is rated for comparative level of difficulty. Historic preservationist Wesley H. Haynes adds an essay recouting the rich history of the towers. |
