- Fifth Annual Catskill Fire Tower Days - October 8th, 2006
Enjoy the beautiful fall foliage of the Catskill Mountains from atop some of our highest summits with a 360-degree view of the area! Five separate hikes to all of the renovated fire towers within the Catskill Park will depart from their respective trailheads at 10AM. Sponsored by The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development.
Volunteers needed!
- If you are interested in staffing one of the five Catskill Mountain Fire Towers as a volunteer this summer, please contact The Catskill Center at 845.586.2611 or cccd@catskillcenter.org. Volunteer interpreters are needed at all 5 towers this season. Interpreters will have the option of camping at the tower or a nearby campsite for the weekend. You can volunteer for just one day - hiking in and out on the same day. Interpreters should attend a 'training' session so they become comfortable with rules, regulations, talking to the public, and aware of the regions history and the future of the towers and forest preserve.
