WIND SCALE


To determine how hard the wind is blowing, look at the trees and bushes. Use the scale below as your guide. Write the number that best describes the conditions during your trip.

  1. No wind: Nothing is moving. Even the leaves are still.

  2. Very light wind: Leaves are gently rustling.

  3. Light wind: Leaves and branches are moving slightly.

  4. Windy: Leaves and branches are moving a lot.

  5. Heavy wind: Large branches are bending.

  6. Gale: Leaves and small branches are breaking off of the trees.

  7. Heavy gale: Large branches are breaking off of the trees.

  8. Hurricane or tornado: Trees and houses are falling down. No school!
