The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development is a member-supported, 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization serving the Catskill Mountain region of New York State. The Catskill Center stimulates, conducts, and supports integrated actions to protect vital ecosystems and unique landscapes, to enhance economic opportunities for all the region's residents, to preserve cultural and historic assets and to further a regional vision and spirit.

The Catskill Center encourages appropriate economic and cultural development consistent with conservation values, and through its integrated programs, works to build a strong constituency for the protection of the irreplaceable human and natural resources in the Catskills. We work through strategic partnerships with regional organizations, communities, and others, to effect positive change from the bottom up in the region. Our programs include:Community Planning & Development, Education, Land Conservation & Natural Resources, and Arts & Culture.

Since we were founded in 1969, The Catskill Center has worked to inform the public on issues of regional interest and encourages citizen involvement in decisions affecting them through our public forums throughout the region. We work to foster a deeper appreciation, understanding, and conservation of the resources and cultural treasures of this area. Please join us in our efforts. Together we can make a difference!

The Catskill Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization with a regional perspective that promotes the quality of life and environmental integrity in the Catskill region, an area encompassing the Catskill Mountains. Known as "First American Wilderness," the Catskills extend from the Helderberg escarpment overlooking our State Capitol in Albany southwardly along the Catskills escarpment overlooking the mighty Hudson River, to the rolling hills of Sullivan County, westerly to the lands memorialized by James Fenimore Cooper in the Leatherstocking region, and northerly to historic Rensselaerville, New York.

The Catskill Center is located on State Route 28 in the hamlet of Arkville. We are approximately 40 miles west of Kinsgston and 2 miles east of Margaretville. If you would like to visit the Catskill Center during business hours (M-F 9am-5pm, Saturday 12-4pm) please do stop by.
