LAND USE/COVER MAP

Enlarged Version 506 X 612 (158Kb)

This is a "Multi Resolution Land Characterization" image that uses remote sensing technology to depict land cover and land use. It was created by the U.S. Geological Survey and partners using Landsat Thematic Mapper satellite images. Several satellite images were taken between 1988 and 1993, and then compiled to create this one land use/land cover image. The smallest ground area, or ‘pixel’, that can be resolved in the satellite image is 30 meters by 30 meters.
